Rockin Birthday Card

I made this Rockin Birthday Card for my step-son-in-law.  I wanted to use mostly green and gold because he and my step-daughter graduated from the University of South Florida.
I also haven't been able to scrap as much as I have wanted to lately, but I have been reading lots of blogs and there are so many great ideas that I have been wanting to try.  I started with Jayni Majaski Side Step card Tutorial that was showcased on Thursday at Fantabulous Cricut.  After making one card following Jayni's template, I knew I wanted the card to be bigger.  I will share the measurements that I used to make my 6x9 card (but it will be easier to follow if you print Jayni's template first).
I started with a 8 1/2" x 11" piece of green cardstock.  Using Jayni's template as a guide, I marked my pencil line at 3 1/2" and scored that section at 5 1/2".  The remaining side was scored at 1", 2" 3 3/4", 4 1/2", and 8 1/4".  I followed her directions for the rest of the card assembly.  I then used some patterned paper and buttons to decorate the front and one of the steps of the card.

I cut "happy birthday" at 2" from Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge.  The tall present (to the left) is cut at 3 3/4" and the short present is cut using the card feature at 2" (so I would have a place to write a note) from the Sweet Treats Cricut Cartridge.  The guitar is cut at 5" from Rock Princess Cricut cartridge.  (As a side note - I love the way the new cartridge handbooks color coordinate the image and the layers so you can better visualize the way it will all fit together in the end.)

I will be entering this in several challenges:
Fantabulous Cricut Challenge #52
More Than Favors Wacky Wednesday Challenge #31
Birthday Sundaes 1st challenge
The Cuttlebug Spot Challenge - Buttons
